Hi, to update maps just copy and paste the gmapsupp.img (2009) to where you have it saved on your phone/memory card, thats all. There's no expiry on the activation key, and besides you don't need to buy the cd, just get that file from a friends in car garmin which has the latest 2009 maps.

It works on all Nokia symbian phones that have internal gps or not, eg. 6110, 6210, the N-Series and E-Series, tried it out and works on 5800, E71, E75, 6110, N78

This is quite a common file, try googling it. Rapidshare doesn't always work on a Telkom line - Axxess is better if you have a voucher.

bought the dvd then used the keygen to make a serial number as with the older maps then just browse phone and replace both files

regarding keygen u have to have v1.5 keygen but mapset id is still the same.
go to mapset,select custom mapset and enter 1214 to unlock 2009 SA streetmaps.

u will be able to use it also on your phone. the dvd u get comes with the necessary programs. u will need to browse the dvd to find them, cant use the autorun afaik.

If you know anyone who has the latest 2009 maps on the Garmin for cars you can grab the file gmapsupp.img and copy and paste to your mobile phone, no need for keygen. Just overwrite the file.

i have had a quick read through this excellent forum and i updated my N95 from version 420... to the 520 version...still works great with no issues.
BUT on the wifes crap 6210 navigator, it has issues...and the biggest one is that when you launch the Garmin software from the phone, the phone reboots. Sometimes when you access the menus such as contacts or messages, it again reboots. The only successfull way of lauching the app is to re-insert the mem card and "reinstall" the app and it then launches.

Have anyone successfully done the 6210 nav phones.
I presume her software is "old" considering its only 1 year old.

[please advise if someone had issues and fixed them on the 6210.

If u find that the program takes long to find satellites try this. dont know which phones u can use it with but works for my 5800. download the latest versions sisx file then use the pc suites application installer

Thanks all sorted now.

Had issues figuring out how to transfer it and how to get the IMG file.

Took some time figuring out in Mapsource i had to select a portion of the map in Mapsource and then click 'Transfer' and the highlighted section would be transferred :rolleyes:

I get this too (on a 6210 Nav). It seems to be telling us that there is a speed limit and I also see the signs. Is it meant to show cameras or just speeding hotspots?

Works perfectly with a touch screen. Landscape mode has a little issue but portrait is perfect.

Finally managed to get it right. Went to bed at 01h00 this morning but had to retire without success. With a few minor adjustments to the steps that ABU provided I managed to pull it through.

1.Immediately after installing the application I first installed the unlock code.
2. I then ran the software. With v5.00.50 installed it eliminates the step where it immediately takes you to the activation page. The application instead then allows you to choose the internal GPS after it searched for an external one.

Works brilliantly, you were right. And what amazes me is the speed with which it picks up satelites. I even managed to pick up satelites in the house, which is impossible on my E71.

Altitude reading incorrect.

Thanks to this thread, I got mobile xt and topo maps to work perfectly on my nokia 6220 classic, but can anyone tell why the altitude reading on the device is out by about 35 meters? (in mobile xt and gps data)
When I'm on the beach it says 35m and have checked against my garmin gps60 at other locations. Always about 30 - 40 meters different.

I have just upgraded to a Samsung Jet (S8003S). I know it comes with a voucher to get "Garmap for mobile" but this a web based online app and not resident on the phone. So the app stops when you are out of reach of a cell tower!! Plus it costs +/- 15 bucks a month to run it in data charges.

I would like to know if the GarminXT can be loaded on to the phone.

I can't find out what OS it is running only that the overlay is TouchWiz.

The other day I drove with 1 of my friends who actually bought the Garmin for his phone. His Garmin actually warned him about cops about 1km ahead and they were doing a roadblock. There's no way this is on the Garmin Database. Mine didn't even know about it. Is this just a setting or what?

Reason I'm asking is because I got a new car and I would like to get notified of speed cops before I actually get pulled over :-) Else I'll have to invest in a Laser Detector and they are a bit expensive.

But this can't be a POI coz I'm in Fochville and no one around here actually has a GPS, hahhha.... They are only there maybe once every 2 months... I did read up on this and they say the new GPS unit will detect most locations of Police. Can this be true?

OK, the POI will ONLY give you areas or places were police activity is NORMALLY found, the GPS cannot give you a warning if police activity is present, so its just luck.............same as speeding cameras, only permanent cameras are shown........so you get warned if they are operational or not. Its just a warning to be careful:cool:

just let your phone get gps signal (might take awhile) then go check again. and make sure its zoomed in 120km or less

Out of curiosity...Where can a person set which voice you want? I downloaded a voice, but can't seem to find any options for voices on my Nokia E52...or is this just for Garmin Devices?

Fransman, the Garmin xt freezes while navigating on the Nokia 6710, I have one so i do have experience with it, I have contacted Garmin they awaiting a test unit to check it out and then they'll get back to me.

anyone here has OVI Nokia maps for download? I like the Garmin, but would like to give the OVI maps vers 3 a go...I got the trialware (i think), but these guys are mad with their prices...I can get "unsigned" software, but what a hassle with a Nokia E52 :(

Btw, i think you're more clued up than me, so i would like to ask a question...Is it normal for GPS systems to take so long before a connection is made? I'm talking about 5 min here. Best thing of all is, my Garmin usualy kicks in AFTER i have first connected with OVI maps...Do you think this is just a coincidence?

I got my 5800 on Friday and have installed Garmin XT as per the first post in the thread, when i go to view map i get no maps, just a message stating no map... but when i search for addresses and put an adress in voice navigation to that address works but still can't see a map....
any idea what i might have done wrong during installation?

also where would be the best place to get a car charger and windscreen/dashboard mount for the 5800?

i followed the instructions on the first page, generated the key, saved the key in gmapsupp.unl on the phone. When i browse maps and addresses i can view the maps but when trying to navigate i just get the cursor on a blank screen with a no map message in bottom right corner....

you might have to zoom in
yes i know it sounds silly, but the map will only appear once the scale is down to 2km or less

once you open garmin and you at the main screen, look at the top left. it shows your network signal, touch on the symbol next to that, check that it is on "Use Attached/ Built-in GPS" then enable it. if it is on this or if u dont have that option i would try a different version

Thanks for the instructions and file links.. I just have 2 minor problems:

1.) It works fine on my nokia 6110 navigator, I just needed to know, when i went into the camera's, it came up saying enter your activation key? Now it says "subscription status"
2.) For nokia 5800 xpress music the speed camera warning sounds.. where do you go to set it up?

Thanks to the original poster of this thread ABU, it's brilliant.

I have it working on my N97, although i cant seem to search anything further than about 500kms.
I'm taking a road trip CTn - Dbz - Jozi - SunCity, and i cant seem to see or find anything further than about PE *lol*
Although the map is a "South Africa" map and I have checked settings to see if there is anything related to search distance limitations etc
any advice ?

After you click the "where to" look at the bottom. you Back, then near, then arrows. click on near, then at the bottom right click near other, then spell city and type a city/ town near your destination

I have installed garmin on my N97 and 6110 and it works brilliantly - here's a great tip - if your phone takes too long to get a GPS lock change the location server from supl.nokia.com to supl.google.com. my gps now gets a lock in about 5-10 secs when it used to take a couple of minutes sometimes. it only uses a couple of kb's using a-gps.

please note that it doesn't work with the built in nokia navigation (it crashes) - i don't use it anyway and if you do just change the location server back to supl.nokia.com

I installed this on my old Sony X1 and worked really good. installed it now on my HTC HD2 and it's working but how do I get the new maps uploaded to the phone?? I did download it from that link but when I run it it keeps telling my it can't find my GPS unit ID??

Also how do I get it to warm me on cops standing next to the road? My friend actually bought the GPS and his will give him a warning... Can I enable this 2?

Can someone help me out. I installed this on my Sony X1 (worked) and my HTC HD2 (working 100%) But I'm trying to install it on my fiance's Sony Satio (Garmin version 5.0.0.50 and.60) and both takes FOR EVER to load... .50 actually freezes the phone and .60 goes in but what ever you do you press the button and wait about 1 min before it goes on..

Garmap Southern Africa Streetmaps 2010.2 requires a 20 character code and the garmin generator provides a code qith morethan 20 characters

check your files you copied over to the phone ie the unl file.... they probably still in txt format on your device. rename them to .unl only ... on your phone its probably saved as name.unl.txt change it to name.unl only and you will be able to pick up the internal gps ...


Copy the Device unlock key and paste into Notepad. save the file as SW.UNL (choose save as type : All Files ) Save the file as SW.UNL (choose save as type: All Files)

(If you do not save the file using type All Files then the file is saved as a .txt type file (If you do not save the file using type All Files then the file is saved as a. Txt file type
and it won't work unless the .txt extension is removed by renaming) and it will not work Unless the. txt extension is removed for Renaming)

Hi guys, Hoping some1 will still read this thread.

Just pickedup my Nokia Navi 6110 after ages. Have to use it as my temp phone atm.

Problem is if I press my GPS button it opens the GPS software (Route 66) but it just stays @ one location and says Getting Position...
But never gets the location. I can go Options -> View -> GPS Information and it shows a bunch of Sat bar thingies.

Can any1 help a bit? (oc I will install the garmin things in the 1st post also a bit later. Just would like the normal old thing working also)
